A native of Columbia County in the Hudson Valley, Rita Van Alstyne established R.H. Van Alstyne Fine Jewelry and Gifts in 1990. The store is located in her restored 19th century Main Street building in the historic village of Chatham, New York. From the simplest pewter box to the most exquisite jewel, Van Alstyne selects or designs each treasure in her store with an eye for quality, value and the truly unique.
In addition to state and national trade organizations, she is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Historians, a trained bench jeweler and a Graduate Gemologist, GIA.
